Happy Memorial Day, and other stuff...

First let me wish, from one vet to another, a happy Memorial Day. My family and I went to Stone Mountain on Saturday, and they had a special Memorial Day tribute laser show - it was really great. They also recognized all the vets in the audience, and that was kewl too. My kids were proud of me when I stood up.
Other stuff going on... Well, I am in Bermuda this week, and then at Advisor Live! in Las Vegas next week - so most of my blog entries will be from the browser (like this one). Why not do my blog entries and replicate, you ask? Well, that is another story...
I went to visit a new client on Thursday, and while there my laptop locked up - hard. It won't even post. So, now it is off to the shop to be repaired. Last time I sent it off it took 3 weeks - we'll see how it goes this time. The upside is that I am traveling much lighter for these next two trips, since I won't have a laptop. I was able to take the hard drive from my laptop and connect it to a device (via USB) that let me "see" it on another machine as additional drives. This was very handy, as it let me back up all those things I needed - including my presentation and examples for Las Vegas. I am going to invest in an Iomega REV drive to do more permanent backups - anyone have any "real world" experience with one of these things? They seem really, really kewl.
OK, that's all for now. I'll be back on here later this week.
Happy Memorial Day to my American readers. Hug a vet.

For those not in the "know", Nick and I were stationed together at Moody AFB in Valdosta, GA in the early to mid 1980's. We were in the unit depicted by that patch - the 68th Aircraft Maintenance Unit in support of the 68th Tactical Fighter Squadron (TFS), 347th Tactical Fighter Wing (TFW). Nick was... autopilot? (I think)... and I was communications/navigation - basically we worked on the electronics of the F-4E Phantom II fighter. I opted to get out, and Nick stayed in until retirement.
And that little paragraph cannot nearly convey what those few years were like
Thanks for stopping by, Nick!
