Looks like we all get a taste of "Hannover" today!

As many of you know the DNUG/IBM Lotus Notes Technical Forum in Hannover, Germany is underway this week, and today Ambuj Goyal brought a little taste of "Hannover" to all of us.
No, not Hannover the city - Hannover, the codename for the new Notes 8 client.
For more information your best location is to go to Ed's blog and read all about it. Ed is in Hannover this week, and is going to be sharing quite a bit of info regarding Hannover (product and probably city as well) over the next couple of days.
I do want to say one thing, however. I don't ever want to hear anyone in our industry say "Notes is dead" anymore, ever. The announcement of Hannover, along with the previous announcements and assurances of the future of Notes/Domino should put to rest once and for all any "sky is falling" handwringing going on in the Domino marketspace. Hell, Notes isn't dead - it is just the opposite, evolving with the market and even expanding onto new desktop OSes (Hannover will run on Windows, Mac, and Linux).
Sing it from the rooftops. Domino and Notes are alive and well, and will be around for many years to come.

In the meantime, I would keep an eye on the developerWorks site for various announcements. And, I'm sure Rocky will be able to post to his blog when the time comes.
http://www-128.ibm.com/developerworks/workplace/client.html is the url to app dev info on IBM Workplace products.

As for what dev tools, I would say (as me, not as an IBMer) that I would learn about Rational Application Developer, and also Workplace Designer (when it ships). Anyone else is free to offer an opinion as well.
