Lotusphere 2007: End of day one, beginning of day two

Yesterday afternoon I spent some time in the Meet the Developers lab. I can remember years ago when I was a newbie Lotus developer, and I used to look up to the folks in the Meet the Developers lab. I mean, the other labs were great, but the MtD lab was the most brilliant minds in my industry of choice - it was a hallowed place to visit.
Jump forward about 10 years later, and now I am honored to be a part of that special lab. I get to rub elbows with folks who are still some of the most brilliant minds in the industry - the faces may have changed somewhat, but the level or expertise and innovation remains just has high, if not higher. As a Lotus "fanboy" for so many years, it is very kewl for me to be asked to participate in that lab; by the way, it is even more special because I get to participate in that lab with one of my closest friends, Bob Balaban. Come by and visit us, and I'll point out some of the "great minds" to you.
After the regular day's sessions ended I spent a little time in the product showcase - and it is very nice to see the showcase full and crowded with people exploring what's available. I think a full showcase is indicative of a healthy and thriving market. If you're here, go spend some time in the showcase - you won't be disappointed.
Then we kicked of what is one of my favorite events at Lotusphere - JAMfest. Once again we were very, very fortunate to have the Iris band known as Red Box Panic open the night for us, and then they were having so much fun they hung around and sat in for the evening. There was a great deal of great singing and playing, quite a bit of bad singing and playing, but all of it was fun singing and playing. If you missed JAMfest you missed an incredible evening. I am already looking forward to next year. By the way, if you were there, I would love to hear your comments and suggestions - good and bad - so we can make JAMfest even better next year.
Today I am sitting in on some sessions in the morning, and then I am spending the afternoon in the Meet the Developers lab. After that I am attending BOF211: IBM Lotus Notes and SAP Solution Integration, in the Yacht & Beach Ashbury C. I am currently sitting in on Rob Novak's and Viktor Krantz's session entitled BP311: The Great Code Giveaway - Web 2.0 Edition. Rob and his crew from SNAPPS are some of my "superstars" for the Best Practices track, and I must say this session kicks ass. If you have an opportunity to attend the repeat of this session later in the week (Thursday), I strongly encourage you to do so. You'll be amazed and excited by what they'll show you - and you can take advantage of it immediately (they really do give the code away, no strings attached).
More to come - including the Tuesday edition of the Lotusphere 2007 Haiku Daily Contest.
