As I mentioned a couple of days ago, I am the happy owner of a new Blackberry Pearl (8100). I love the phone, and I wanted to get a new case to protect my phone and make it easily accessible. As I have reported in the past, I have been very happy with the cases I have gotten from Gizmoskin. Now Gizmoskin used to be known as UniqueMobile and had a store on e-Bay - but they have since expanded and now have the GizmoSkin dedicated site.

The case provided by GizmoSkin, for any product (this is my third case style that I have gotten from GizmoSkin) is really of exceptional quality. The leather is soft yet durable, and the attention to detail is awesome. Let's take a look at the case in detail...

GizmoSkin case in detail
Here is a picture of the GizmoSkin case for my Pearl from the front, with my Pearl next to it.

GizmoSkin case - front
The case is designed to exactly fit the dimensions of the phone - it is a snug fit, but is not too tight so it is easy to remove your phone when needed. The flap has a magnet in it, and the case itself has magnets strategically placed in it so you can put the phone in the case in any direction and it will activate the Blackberry's screen swich to turn off the screen.

GizmoSkin case - front, open
The flap pretty much shuts itself, and it is really easy to open and close to use your phone.

GizmoSkin case - side
As I stated earlier, the case is made extremely well, and all four sides are a nice soft lambskin leather. The side panels are designed so that all of your connections are available, such as charging the phone or using a headset. The case is also lined with a really soft felt material, so it won't scratch your phone.

GizmoSkin case - back 1
The back of the case is pretty nondesript. The clip itself is actually covered in a tougher cowhide instead of lambskin, so it will withstand placing it on your belt.

GizmoSkin case - back 2
If you look at the clip you may think it isn't a swivel clip - and you'd be wrong. It does in fact swivel, and has a ratchet device built in - but it still has a really low profile against the case, as shown in the earlier side picture. I happen to like to use my case with the phone case turned sideways, so I really like this feature - and I have never had the ratchet fail on my clip.

Now as I reported earlier I have only had one problem in all of the cases I have owned from GizmoSkin. They had a bad batch of cases when I ordered a second one for my 7100t, and I happened to get one. The folks at GizmoSkin were very apologetic and quickly sent me another case, no questions asked - and the case was up to their usually high standards. All cases since then have been great.

Conclusion
If you want a great case for your phone - a case that is well made and built to look nice and last a long time - then I highly recommend the GizmoSkin case. It is a great case backed with great customer service, and you really can't ask for anything more in a company.

Bob Balaban recently bought a case from them as well - hopefully I can talk him into commenting on this entry and giving his impressions on his case for his 8700.

If you have any questions, please ask.

1 - you have way too much time on your hands to be putting tons of pictures up of your case!Emoticon

2 - No matter how snazzy the case, you're still a geek for wearing the phone.

3 - Don't work for them, but the thing is cheap and works - www.bestskinsever.com - yeah, a bit of a PIA to install, but those fingerprints go away - that alone is worth it to me.

4 - @3 - Ed, COME ON! Like you wouldn't wear a snakeskin phone case if you could....

6 - Well, I tried to get Bob B. to respond with his thoughts on his case, but he just told them to me in ST, and then told me that I could "quote him" - so here's our conversation:
----------------------------------------------------
[13:20] Bob Balaban/Waltham/IBM: i like the horizontal case, though i wish the clip-on part was a little tighter. I had it fall off my pocket one time. But I really like the magnetic flap, and once I got used to it, I haven't had any trouble hauling the bb out of the case
[13:20] Rocky Oliver: kewl
[13:20] Bob Balaban/Waltham/IBM: i do wish that I were richer, though, and could have afforded one of the snakeskin models....
[13:20] Rocky Oliver: so, blog all that as a response
[13:20] Rocky Oliver: folks would like to know that
[13:20] Rocky Oliver: especially that you have a different style case than I do
[13:20] Bob Balaban/Waltham/IBM: go ahead and quote me if you want
----------------------------------------------------
I haven't had the problem Bob had with the clip being loose, so YMMV. And I do agree with him - the snakeskin cases are VERY KEWL, but a bit pricey for me.

Thanks for the quote, Bob!

7 - The magic of blogs. I've been looking for a case for both my BB 8700 and my cell phone, and after reading this post just bought both over on GizmoSkin. Everything I had found at the local Verizon or Cingular store either had big logos or had pink ticking down the middle or was just otherwise not my style.

Thanks for the recommendation!

8 - heh, nice thx for reccomends =)
