I have blogged about my eldest daughter, Kristi, in the past. She's an amazing young woman - very intelligent, beautiful, fiercely independent, and overall a pretty amazing person. Today is a milestone - she is 16. As I have stated in previous posts, I swear time has gone by in the blink of an eye. She was a small, blonde baby girl who's smile lit up my world; and now she is a young woman who, before I know it, will be a grown woman out on her own.

I wish time would slow down. I wish I could make my days with Kris longer so that I could have more time to spend with her, as she is a fascinating person to be around. I was fortunate enough to spend some time with her in Germany recently - she went with me to the EntwicklerCamp in Gelsenkirchen, Germany.

But times like that are few and far between. I cherish every moment with her, and while I am excited to see what life has in store for her I also wish time would stop for a bit so I could savor our time together a bit more.

But today isn't about wanting to slow down time - today is about celebrating my firstborn, the most beautiful 16 year old I know.

Kris, thanks for being such a great daughter, sister, and friend. I love you, and I am proud of you.

Happy Birthday.

1 - "Mind like a steel trap"?

Everything that goes in gets mangled?

P.S. Happy B-day Kristi!

2 - Gah... my daughter turns 15 this summer and I feel the same way you do, Rocky - I love everything about the person she's become, and I hate to see the time slip away.

Happy Birthday, Kristi. I hope you had a fantastic 16th, and that any crying your parents did was done in private so as not to embarrass you.

3 - @Glenn - First, you're right - that 10 years is going to go by in the blink of an eye. Savor every moment with your daughter, because she'll be grown before you know it.

And thanks for the "you seem rather young to have a teenager" comment My wife and I got married very young - I was 20 and my wife was 18. But we were smart - we waited 6 years before we had children, as we wanted to travel, party, etc. and we also both wanted to own a home before we began raising a family - goals we achieved before having Kris. So, I was 26 when Kris was born, and my wife was 24 - and waiting that long to have kids was the best thing we ever did.

Thanks again for the comments, Glenn!

4 - Happy birthday too!

PS. Does your jacket say "BRILL", I can't see all the letters under the fold? :)

5 - LOL - no, it says "BULLDOGS", as in University of Georgia Bulldogs - my alma mater. It's just the letters are hidden because of my fat ass

6 - Happy birthday to Kristi!

7 - I agree with you- the rate at which time is perceived to pass increasing very quickly. I have a 6 year old and already realize 10 years is probablyu going to zip by like that! Rock you also seem rather young to have a teenager! Keep doing what you're doing dude!
