Are you ready? You've been waiting for this for some time - you've been patient (kinda), and you've had some fun guessing. Well, it is finally here - IT IS TIME FOR THE ANNOUNCEMENT!!

(Drumroll please...)

The Lotusphere team is proud to announce the details for
Lotusphere JAMFest 2006! The description that will be posted on the Lotusphere site is below:

New for Lotusphere 2006
! The world only sees one aspect of you - the "uber-geek code-warrior" that wields an IDE like a katana, cutting a swath through the IT problems you face every day. However, they never see the other side of you - the frustrated headbanger, blues rocker, or pop star who was only one American Idol-type break away from superstardom.

Well, here's your chance!  We're proud to announce the first annual Lotusphere JAMFest 2006!   Beginning Monday and Tuesday nights we will be providing you - all you Ziggy Stardust wannabes, Eric Clapton protégés, or Neil Peart idols - the opportunity to jump on a stage, pick up an axe, pair of sticks, or mic, and rock the house with your awesome riffs or stunning vocals. Of course, "encouragement" will be available for the needy, but for many of you that isn't necessary - all you need is a stage, an amp, and an audience to shred.

So, tear yourself away from Quake 4, leave the geek backpack in the room, and don your best concert T-shirt for Lotusphere JAMFest 2006!

More details coming soon...

We will have the first JAMFest after the product showcase reception on Monday, then we will have another one on Tuesday. Go ahead and start practicing your best riffs and favorite song, and start picking songs you want to perform. More kewl surprises are coming concerning the JAMFest, so stay "tuned" (pun intended)!

BTW, I am going to play another round of Rocky's Clues soon - I enjoy it!

Update:
BTW, the "winner" of the first round of Rocky's Clues was our own
Captain Oblivious, Rob McDonagh. However, because of his astute and insightful observation, I think we should force him to change his moniker from Captain Oblivious to Captain Observant - or does anyone have an even better nom de plume for Rob? Good job, Rob! **Rock

1 - "all you Ziggy Stardust wannabes, Eric Clapton protégés, or Neal Peart idols"

Rock... BLASPHEMER!!!

It's NEIL, not Neal. Please correct this grotesque oversight, before I'm forced to issue a fatwa!

2 - I can't wait to hear about Bruce Elgort banging on the skins...

3 - Yeah Tim, I LOVED the old Advisor DevCon jam sessions, tre cool.

As for my instrument, in the immortal words of Lucky Boys Confusion:

"Bitch, I play the microphone"

I am so there...

-Grey

4 - @13 - Brian, that is a little far fetched. What do you think we do here? Develop applications?!?

5 - Yep, huge oversight on my part Nathan. The bad thing is that I KNOW it is Neil (I grew up on Rush) - and still misspelled it. Only thing I can figure is that I know a bunch of Neals, one is a good friend of mine, so I am used to writing it that way.

But, that's no excuse I have changed it in my post, and I have forwarded the correction to the powers-that-be for the site.

Thanks for the catch!

Rock

6 - Actually Rob McDonagh beat me to it on 18/10/2005 22:45:21

Will be fun to watch. You going to be on stage Rock?

7 - This *is* cool! What an original concept! This should be fun..

8 - Cool. Sounds like the old Lotus Advisor DevCon jams.....

9 - This ought to be fun! I'm looking forward to it!

10 - Hey Rock I got it right on Friday, October 21st 2005 SOunds like fun, although I could empty a room fast as anyone if I were to try

John

11 - Sounds great - wish I could be there! The old Advisor Jams were great.
@Chris, if only we had a way to share musical choices, lyrics, sheet music, and other information in a collaborative way across, maybe, the Web or (well, I know this is far fetched but) even customized clients.... ; ).

12 - OH YEAH! I am so there -- working on my Karen Carpenter tunes!

{{ Don't get me wrong. I like the Carpenters but I really don't think this audience would appreciate it }}

13 - oooooohhhhh mmmmmmyyyyyyy gggggggooooooooooooooodddddd.

So. Requests:

I believe Richard Szwartz does a mean "Eagles, Desperado".

Andrew Pollack: "Call the fire brigade".

Wes Morgan: "Bat out of Hell..." (that would be *cool*)

Me; "There's a mooose, loooose, aboooot this hooooose"...

Ed Brill/Alan Lepowski: "Me and my shadow" ?

Any others ?

---* Bill

14 - What instruments and gear will be provided? Planning on all electric jams or will we have an acoustic jam session too? Need to know what to pack.

- chuck -

15 - Cool idea. I played keys in a jam/jazz fusion band for awhile, so pounding through chord charts is second nature. I hope you guys provide a keyboard, though. I'm not lugging my 60lb 88 key behemoth from Buffalo.

16 - Derek (16) - Yes, a keyboard as well as other instruments will be provided

Rock

17 - @Wild Bill: Desperado?? I don't think so!

@Chris: I'm planning on digging up some of my old chord and lyric sheets, scan them into pdfs, and I'm sure we can find a place to post them.

18 - Glad to see it finally announced!

I plan on bringing my Jackson electric guitar!

@ Rocky, will there be any way for us guitar wielding geeks to post songs or see what others may want to play?

19 - Hey - I guessed it before you posted clues! What do I get?

Mwahahahaha
