The more things change, the more they stay the same - and so it is with the Certified Unofficial Lotusphere Tee (C.U.L.T.) shirt as well. Andrew and I are proud to announce that year's Top 10 theme is "Top 10 Lotus Quotes". We want your best quotes about Lotus - could be about Lotus the company, or about Notes/Domino, or whatever. The quotes you submit can be real or fictional, with a couple of guidelines:

1) If it is a real quote, we need proper attribution (i.e. who said it, and where). Need to avoid as many libel suits as possible, and all that ;)
2) If it is a fictional quote, then make sure it is a fictional person/thing. Once again, need to avoid unnecessary litigation.

So, some examples may be something like...
"Notes is Dead" (Forbes 1997, Forbes 2001, Forbes 2003, Forbes 2005)
or maybe...
"Arrrrghhhh!" (some Exchange admin after applying the umpteenth fixpack )

Information about sponsorships will go out soon as well - Andrew is preparing that now. We have a few surprises in the sponsorship area as well, so stay tuned.

The site for submitting and voting on quotes will be live next week - but until then, put on those thinking caps, crank up Google to find the proper attributions, and get ready to submit your quotes!

Comments

1 - Here's one from Rich's blog:

"In the event of a complete atomic meltdown there will be cockroaches, UNIX, Lotus Notes and Cher. Not necessarily in that order." -- Dennis Clarke

2 - This product is going to be a real "Notes Killer", Microsoft 1993, 1995, 1998, 2003, 2004 . . .

3 - Since I be at home attending to either a very pregnant wife or a newborn baby, I really hope I can get one of those swank t-shirts in either a M or L. Pretty Please!!!!!

I like the "Almost everybody uses Exchange, they just don't know it" that Ed had up on his site recently. Or how about "What 'I Love You' Virus?"

4 - Here are two, one obvious and the other obscure:

Steve Gillmore

NOTES IS DEAD. Kaput, pushing up daisies, canceled, an ex-application.

Magellan is likely to cause lots of sleepless nights at Lotus, because it looks like being a Lotus Notes killer for Linux.

5 - Corrected version of the above:

This product is going to be a real "Notes Killer", Microsoft 1992, 1996, 1998, 2000, 2001, 2003

Those are the ship dates for Windows for Workgroups, several versions of Exchanged (4, 5.5, 2000, 2003) and Sharepoint

6 - Or even better

"My e-mail server might be down....yup, it's down" from that same Channel 9 article.

Sean---

7 - "Outlook: 12. Notes: 0:" -- BugTraq.

---* Bill

8 - "Lotus? Nobody uses that anymore. We use Excel instead."

-- Random middle manager at random company

9 - I have the pithy users who call it "Slowtus Notes" or "Lotus Bloats"...

10 - "Ladies and gentelmen, my killbot features Lotus Notes and a machine gun! It is the finest available."
-Prof. Wurnstrom (Futurama)
