This and that...

OK, I have a ton of stuff I could have blogged about, but haven't. Still fighting this #$%$%^ sickness, and just haven't felt up to it. So, here's a quick rundown of the stuff I have thought about, but just haven't written about.
- I was sad to hear of the passing of Coretta Scott King. She has been a fixture in Atlanta since I can remember, and she will be missed. The memorial goings-on here in Atlanta have been HUGE. Tens of thousands of people have paid their respects. May she rest in peace.
- The Steelers won the Super Bowl! I know Declan is very happy about that - and even though it was a sloppy game, I think the right team won. Plus, Cowhler is one of my favorite NFL coaches - he is a throwback, tough-as-nails coach and that's kewl to see. And finally I wanted to see the fairy tale story of Jerome Bettis end appropriately - him retiring after winning a Super Bowl in his hometown. That's the stuff of legends.
- Rich Schwartz has a huge discussion going on over on his blog about Workspace vs Bookmarks. I have been a big proponent of bookmarks. I started using them in Release 5, and they still needed some work; however in 6 and above they are great. I cannot imagine not using them anymore. And in response to Chris Byrne's comment "Being a visual person blessed with ADD, I cannot function in a bookmark environment (especially as the number of databases I need access to balloons).", I violently disagree. I have ADD (I take meds for it), and bookmarks actually work better for me than the workspace. I work with hundreds and hundreds of apps, and bookmarks allow me to granularly group my databases and projects into organized folders and subfolders. I can even include other files that are a part of the project, like documents and spreadsheets, all in the same folder. Without bookmarks I get very, very frustrated trying to find a database on a workspace tab with hundreds of dbs on it (people with ADD have short patience) - and I quickly run out of tabs, adding to the overall frustration. Bookmarks work now, and work well. If you are a workspace user and you haven't given them a chance in 6.x and above, you're simply being close-minded and stubborn.
- The Yellow is the New Black signature graphic thing is taking off. I have seen tons of bloggers create their own lately. We should get Rich to set up an area where we can place/submit/upload sig graphics and desktop images on yellowisthenewblack.com so we all have one place to get this stuff.
Well, that's all that comes to mind for now. Comments welcome.

But I'll give it another try - in 7.0.1. May have been R5 the last time I tried...

And my comment about being close-minded refers to those who discount the bookmarks without even giving them a real try - and by that I don't mean using them for 10 mins, as that's simply giving lip service to trying them. As you know to truly try a new technology you have to live with it a few days. I truly believe that the bulk of the people poopooing the bookmarks have never ever given them any serious consideration.
Of course, I could be wrong; but in this case I don't think I am.

Richard, the results are surprisingly stable and have not changed much going from 50 to over 300 votes. While not being statistically sound, they are certainly better than a couple of guys' reasoning.

1. Coretta Scott King - I lived in Atlanta for some time and grew up in Georgia. As much as she was popular, she was not the great person I think everyone was making her out to be. She floundered and he son is not much of a person at all. MLK I get, making her seem like the same significant person is hard for me as I read the stories over the past years about he abusing the system in Georgia and taking advantage of the community that supported her. Not a big fan, but nonetheless that generation should be applauded for the hard work and thankless effort.
2. Congrates to the Steelers - The Refs beat the Seahawks just a coincidence that the Steelers were on the field.
3. No Idea yet as to what you all are talking about, but we are about to jump feet first into Workplace.
Keep on posting and take some time off and get some rest. We need a healthy Rocky! Tell Mac Hey too if you talk to him.

Reminds me of MS likening customers to dinosaurs.

BTW: I'm working on a little mini-button for YITNB, similar to your LotusGeek button and Chris' Fighting FUD button.
Lastly, re bookmarks... I'm working on a post with the working title: "Notes Bookmarks, Workspace, And The Missing Third Option" Might be a while, as there are a lot of graphics to prepare.
