I just finished my session entitled AD502: Creating Maintainable IBM Lotus Notes and Domino Applications - Writing Readable Code, and I must say I had a blast. The room was full (I was in Dolphin Northern Hemisphere I, a pretty big room), and the crowd was receptive and enthusiastic. I want to thank everyone that attended the session, you all made it worthwhile for me, and you're the reason I keep coming back.

If you're looking for the session slides, you can find them in the Downloads area, or you can click here.

1 - Rocky, great session. So much of it was "I knew that, really!" type stuff, but to see it spelled out really made it clear.

I wanted to mention that the use case of looping through a NotesDocumentCollection and using Delete still applies to 7.0.2. My understanding is that somewhere in the R7 codestream the agent manager was changed to flush its cache more frequently, but it still doesn't automatically delete an object with no references. I have a database that operates on nearly 2M docs, and if I don't put doc.Delete inside the loop the server eventually crashes.

2 - No, no SPR... I was just told "Notes is working as designed." I'll track you down this afternoon.

3 - Rocky, from the last page of the presentation... Who's that Linus Torbvalds bloke that owns the Linux trademark? Linus Torvalds must be pissed off at him

Sorry, not your fault I know, but your's was just the first set of slides I've seen from LS2007.

4 - @Charles - that is GREAT information! Do you know if that has been SPRed or Technoted? If not you need to find me to talk to me more about it - and I'll get it entered into the SPR system. I'll need reproduceable steps, etc., then we can enter it.

Come find me in the Meet the Developers Lab - I am there Tuesday afternoon (from 1:30 - 6 or so) and Thursday morning (9 - 10:30 or so).

@kerr - color me embarrassed for myself and the entire content team We put that slide at the end of EVERY session when preparing them for posting to the Web, so you get to make fun of every presenter you download I'll pass it along to the Lotusphere powers-that-be.

Thanks again!

5 - I haven't been able to connect to you in the lab, but I did speak with Andre Guirard. He said he is not aware of any changes to the object cache handler, and that using Delete is still recommended when dealing with large document collections and this will continue with Notes 8. He did say there may have been a change that he wasn't aware of, and he would talk to you about it to see if you knew something he didn't.
